The State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of the Acting Chief Judge of the State, Justice Stephen Etim Okon, as substantive Chief Judge of the state Judiciary.
The confirmation followed the submission of the Report by the House Committee on Justice, Judiciary, Human Rights and Public Petitions which screened the Judge for the appointment.
Presenting the report on the floor of the House, the Chairman of the Committee, Otobong Ndem, had explained that Justice Stephen Okon had met all the criteria and was eminently qualified to be so appointed.
The House Leader, Sir Udoh Kierian Akpan, moved a motion for the confirmation and was seconded by the Deputy Speaker, Mr. Effiong Bassey.
The speaker of the House, Elder Aniekan Uko said with the confirmation of Justice Stephen Okon, the Clerk should communicate same to the State Governor for necessary action.
