Commissioner for Information and Strategy meets with Management and Staff of the Akwa Ibom Newspaper Corporation

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Charles Udoh has challenged the Management and Staff of the Akwa Ibom Newspaper Corporation to be innovative in the production of Pioneer Newspapers in-order to boost patronage.
Mr. Udoh threw the challenge during a meeting with staff of the Corporation Thursday, at a meeting.
The Commissioner for Information said innovation in the content of the Newspaper will attract and retain readership across the different spectrum of the society and reinvigorate passion for it.
He noted that the Pioneer Newspaper, being a potent arm of the State Information machinery, government was passionate about making it to succeed in its mandate.
He therefore urged staff to work as a team and to ensure that the Pioneer Newspaper is visible at Newsstands across the state.
While assuring the Corporation of government’s support, the Commissioner for Information charged the staff to take advantage of corporate organizations operating in the state for advertisements to boost its financial base.
Speaking earlier, the Acting General Manager of Akwa Ibom Newspaper Corporation, Mr. Marvelous Udoh said the Pioneer Newspaper is 28 years old since the first edition was published in 1988.
He said that though the Corporation has challenges, Pioneer Newspaper has been a key player in the information delivery system in the state over the years.
Mr. Udo assured the Commissioner of the readiness of the staff to put in their best to justify government’s investment in the Corporation.
The Commissioner during the visit was taken round the different units of the Corporation where he inspected the Goss Community Press, the Pre-Press Unit, Library and the new Generating Plant.
