One of the major power distributors in the state – Ibom Power Distribution Company has said that it is shutting down it operations for forty-five days.
The Acting Managing-Director of the company, Engineer Meyen Etukudo said this during a special interview in the AKBC-TV studios.
Engineer Etukudo said that the shut-down which will take effect from Friday, 21st October, 2016, is to enable the gas supplier, Seven Energy Agro-Gas to carry out a facility and maintenance tour-around of the company.
He explained that the maintenance exercise has been due for more than a year now, saying; that it was better to have the company shut down for forty-five days than risk total breakdown.
On whether or not the state will have power supply during the forty-five days shut down of the company, the Deputy Managing-Director, Engr. Nelson Usiere, explained that consumers of electricity in the state have nothing to worry about as the company has made arrangements with the National Power Distributing Company in Aba and Odukpani to supply the state with power, pending when the Ibom Power Distribution Company will be back on operation.
