Members of the Government House Prayer Committee have visited the children’s ward of University of Uyo Teaching Hospital to share the joy of the Christmas and New Year with the babies as well as pray for them.
Led by the Chairman, Pastor Emmanuel Bassey and Special Assistant to the Governor on Religious Matters, the Reverend Daniel Akwatang, the team donated cash and other items to the babies and settled bills of some parents who were discharged but did not have the money to clear the bills.
Areas visited by the team were the Pediatrics, Surgical Ward and Children’s Emergency Unit.
The Reverend Akwatang explained that the visit was at the instance of the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel adding that it was to identify with them and wish them speedy recovery.
He said that the administration of Mr. Emmanuel was passionate about the welfare of citizens and was prepared at all times to touch their lives positively.
The Governor’s aide commended the management and staff of the hospital for their good works and care for the patients and prayed God to reward their labour of love.
The Assistant Director of Nursing Services in the Hospital, Mrs. Emaimo Essien who conducted the team round, expressed appreciation to the Governor and the prayer Committee for always including the hospital in its programmes and activities.
She noted that the gesture would go a long way to relieve the patients and stir up their spirit in the yuletide.
Responding on behalf of other parents, Mrs. Uduak Clement Warre said that they were overwhelmed by the visit, gifts and prayers of the Government House Prayer Committee.
She prayed God to sustain and bless the State Governor and his administration and give them more grace to pilot the affairs of Akwa Ibom.
