The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Dr. Glory Edet has visited inmates of the Medium Security Prisons, Uyo where she donated items to them.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Dr. Glory Edet has visited inmates of the Medium Security Prisons, Uyo where she donated items to them.
Among the items donated were foodstuff, toiletries, clothing materials and cash.
Dr. Edet who was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary and Directors in the Ministry said she was there to encourage the inmates not to lose hope in life.
She advised them to adhere to the Prisons reformation programme which she said, would help to mould and correct them so that when they are freed they will become good citizens.
The Commissioner thanked the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel and his wife Martha for the support given to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare to be able to take care of the disadvantaged in the state.
The Deputy Comptroller of Prisons, the Reverend Ben Freeman expressed gratitude to the Commissioner for the items donated.
He assured the state government of the Prison’s continuous effort to rehabilitate the inmates.
