The member representing Itu State Constituency in the House of Assembly, Prince Idongesit Ituen, says five hundred youths of the constituency will be trained in various vocations in the next four years.
Prince Ituen was speaking Tuesday when he met with youths from the Itu OMA axis of the local government area in his office.
While urging the youths to be firm in their commitment to positive causes, the legislator said he has partnered with ten different organizations for the training of the youths in various skills.
He argued that the Itu OMA youths cannot remain stuck to fishing by virtue of coming from riverine communities.
He said he believes that with cooperation between elected representatives and the people, there will be development in Itu local government area.
The Chairman of the House Committee on works and transport also disclosed his willingness to assist women farmers in Itu with improved seedlings and transportation from this month.
Prince Ituen also told his guests that arrangements have been concluded with the executive arm of government to link the Itu bridge head to the national electricity grid.
The Chairman of the Itu Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Mr. Otobong Okponkpong, in his remarks, observed that before Prince Ituen’s tenure, there was a disconnect between the people of Itu and their representatives.
Mr. Okponkpong expressed the loyalty and continued support of the youths to the state government and also passed a confidence vote on the Assembly man.
Other speakers during the meeting included Mr. Aniefiok Essien, Elder John Andem, Mrs. Grace Bassey, Mrs Nkoyo Henry and Mr. Effiong Davies.
