The State House of Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja has upheld the election of Elder Aniekan Uko as member representing Ibesikpo Asutan State Constituency in the House of Assembly.
Chairman of the tribunal, Justice G. I Aninuhu, in his ruling, struck out the petition by the All Progressives Congress candidate, Gabriel Akpan, on the grounds that it was filed after the twenty-one day, time limit provided in the constitution.
After considering all the witness testimonies and the allegations in the petition, the tribunal found the petitioner to be incompetent to have challenged the respondent.
In his reaction, Elder Aniekan Uko, who is also the Speaker of the House, dedicated his victory to God and pledged to maximize his mandate for the benefit of his constituents and a robust state legislature.
