The State Ministry of Health organized a one day Continuing Professional Development programme for doctors in the state

Doctors have been told to reciprocate the investment made by government by rendering quality services that will improve the health status of Akwa Ibom people.

The Commissioner for Health Dr. Dominic Ukpong stated this while declaring open a one day  Continuing Professional Development programme organized by the State Ministry of Health for doctors in the state.

Dr. Ukpong said that Continuous Professional Development is a mandatory requirement for doctors to have their practicing licenses renewed.

He urged doctors to make good use of the opportunity provided them by the Ministry to gather the required credit units for their licenses and also to gain knowledge from experienced resource persons.

In her welcome remarks, the Director of Medical Services, Dr. Comfort Archibong commended the state government for the training and appealed for continuous sponsorship.

She reminded doctors of the need to acquire the required units to qualify for their licenses from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.

Topics handled by resource persons included; Specialist Training in Medical and Dentistry-the need to utilize available opportunities handled by Dr. Oyenike Ekekezie, Medical Malpractices and Professional Liability handled by Barr. Olaolu Osanyin, Diagnosis and Management of Protein Energy Malnutrition in children by Dr. Ndipmouwem Bassey, Approach to a patient with chest pain by Dr. Idongesit Odudu Umoh
