UCCDA announce plans to embark on demolition of structures

The Uyo Capital City Development Authority, U-C-C-D-A has announced plans to embark on demolition of structures that have already been marked ‘X’ within the Capital City.
The Chairman of UCCDA, Prince Enobong Uwah in a statement said that the demolition is to help maintain order in the development of the Capital City.
He said that the exercise is as a result of the expiration of the sixty days ultimatum issued on July 1, 2017 to owners of unregistered buildings.
Owners of such buildings had been advised to register their structures with the UCCDA or risk demolition by the Authority in accordance with the Urban and Regional Planning Laws of the state.
The statement commended developers who have heeded the authority’s directive but warned those who are adamant, that the UCCDA will stop at nothing to rid the capital city of illegal structures.
It advised developers who are in the habit of cutting corners against such acts saying, however; that developers should call at the UCCDA Office for building approval whenever they intend to erect any structure as approval of building permits takes only two weeks after application.
