The University of Uyo Pharmacy programme has been granted full accreditation status by the National Universities Commission.
News of the grant of full accreditation status which is valid for five years was contained in a letter from the N-U-C to the Vice Chancellor, Mrs Comfort Ekpo.
The letter signed by the Deputy Executive Secretary of the N-U-C Professor C-F Mafiana on behalf of the Executive Secretary, conveyed the results of the 2015 Accreditation of Academic programme in the University of Uyo.
A further breakdown of the accreditation result indicates that the University of Uyo scored a total of Seventy-eight point eight percent, covering academic contents, staffing, physical facilities, library, employers rating and other criteria which have elevated the University of Uyo Pharmacy programme to the apogee of pharmaceutical practice in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, arrangements have been concluded for the induction of the 12th set of University of Uyo Pharmacy graduates. The event is scheduled for Tuesday 6th October, 2015 at the Onyema Ogochukwu Auditorium, Town Campus of the University.
The induction ceremony will be conducted by the Registrar, Pharmacists Council of Nigeria P-C-N, Pharmacist N.A.E. Mohammed.
The Council had earlier granted Full Professional Accreditation to the University of Uyo Pharmacy Programme.
According to the Acting Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Uyo, Dr. Arnold Igboasoiyi, the double endorsement of UNIUYO Pharmacy programme by the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria P-C-N, and the National Universities Commission, N-U-C, are clear indications of the professional and academic strength of the faculty to meet the pharmaceutical manpower needs of the country.
